Pacific Northwest
The Pacific Northwest is a diverse and unique agricultural region comprised of both dryland and irrigated farms with permanent and row crops and varying surface water and ground water. Homestead, through its operating partners, grows a wide variety of crops from apples and cherries in Washington to potatoes, onions, sugar beets and grains in Oregon, benefiting from abundant, high-quality water, which plays a crucial role in sustaining agriculture across the PNW's diverse landscape.
Pacific
The Pacific region, consisting entirely of California, epitomizes agricultural diversity and innovation. The vast and varied landscape includes fruit and nut orchards in the fertile Central Valley, renowned vineyards for wine production along the coasts, and vital winter vegetable production in the Imperial Valley. Homestead’s investments in the region include development projects to new varieties and crops, organic transition, irrigation improvements and more.
Mountain West
The Mountain West region is characterized by its diverse agriculture and farming practices. Its irrigated and dryland farms produce a wide range of crops, including wheat, barley, alfalfa, onions, sugar beets, and potatoes. Homestead investments in new irrigation infrastructure improve water efficiency, enabling farmers to increase higher value crop acres. Homestead’s deep local knowledge and rigorous due diligence, specifically around water, is critical when acquiring farms in the region.
Midwest
The Midwest region is known for its fertile soils, abundant rainfall, and favorable climate. While soybeans and corn are the mainstay crops, Homestead's portfolio includes specialty crops such as seed-corn, non-GMO, and organic varieties. Homestead’s portfolio incorporates value-add enhancements such as drainage tile installation, organic transition, and climate-smart farming practices. Delta
The Delta region is known for the production of rice, soybeans, corn and cotton. Its abundant water resources, alluvial soils, and humid subtropical climate provide ideal growing conditions for crop production. Homestead’s value-add improvements in the portfolio include drainage ditch cleanout and precision land leveling. The addition of on-farm grain storage facilities increases our tenants’ crop diversity and harvesting efficiency.
